To ensure that quality services are provided to children orphaned or made vulnerable due to HIV/AIDS infection in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), has said it will strictly supervise Community Based Organizations (CBOs) implementing its supported programs in the community.

At a two-day review meeting with stakeholders in Abuja, IHVN Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Manager, Madam Jummai Musa said that OVC Desk Officers and the FCT Social Development Secretariat, would be engaged in community level supervision of activities in Abuja Municipal Area Council, Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils.

IHVN FCT Regional Manager, Dr. Olayemi Olupitan urged CBOs to ensure their work is verifiable and emphasised that the goal of U.S President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) OVC program through IHVN is to ``keep children healthy, stable, safe and schooled.”

Staff of the twelve CBOs supported by the Institute in the FCT were present at the meeting and discussed their organisation’s achievements, challenges and activities in the second quarter of 2018. Other stakeholders present at the meeting include; representatives from AMAC, Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils, FCT Social Development Secretariat and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
