IHVN Research Overview
The IHVN Research Department started formally in 2008 and in 2009 was reorganized to be an office of Strategic Information, Research and Training. The department oversees all research activities at IHVN and ensures that Ethical and Scientific Research is carried out in accordance with National Health Research Ethic Committee (NHREC) guidelines. The Research Department provides training and capacity building opportunities, as well as mentoring and trainee interactions that build stronger research capacity in Nigeria. The department warehouses all IHVN research activities and is involved in active research collaborations with Federal Health Institutions, both in Nigeria and internationally. The department has over 30 members of staff including MDs, Post-doctoral research fellows, research assistants and nurses, data analysts and youth Corp members.
Mission Statement
The objective of the Research Department, Institute of Human Virology is to provide a flexible and expandable platform for the conduct of health research of the highest ethical and scientific quality in Nigeria. This is achieved through excellent leadership, management and administration, and highly motivated staff who have been trained and retrained to carry out/coordinate research activities of the highest standards in Nigeria.
