As of December 2018, IHVN has staff strength of 514 in country, comprising local and international faculty members cutting across different disciplines. There are Medical Doctors, Laboratory Scientists, Nurses/Midwives, Community Health Experts, IT and Strategic Information experts including seasoned administrators and communicators working in different departments, which include:
  • Office of the Chief Executive Officer/Project Director
  • Corporate Operations Office
  • Prevention, Care and Treatment Department
  • Strategic Information Department
  • Laboratory Research &Implementation Science
  • Clinical Laboratory Department
  • Learning and Development Department

In addition, IHVN has a sound financial system with International Auditing firms carrying out annual audits of all funds while accounting staff are made of Nigerian and U.S. certified personnel. There is a Central Administrative Headquarters in Abuja with five Regional Offices and Seven state offices in the different geopolitical zones of the country:

  • North-West Region – Kano State
  • North-Central & North-East Region – Jos, Plateau State
  • South-East & South-South Region – Asaba, Delta State
  • South-West Region – Lagos State
  • Federal Capital Territory Region (FCT) – FCT

The state offices are in Benue, Nasarawa, Osun, Ogun, Yobe, Borno and Katsina. The Institute also has five regional clinical/laboratory training centers and a national TB training center at:

  • Plateau State Virology Research Center (PLASVIREC) – Jos, Plateau State
  • Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital – Kano
  • Asokoro Laboratory Training Center – Asokoro, Abuja
  • National TB & Leprosy Training Center – Zaria

IHVN has established a center, the International Research Center of Excellence (IRCE) to promote public/private partnership for quality health services, capacity building and research in West Africa. One of IRCE’s key objectives is to provide training and engage new researchers in its mentorship program.  IHVN also conducts biomedical research focusing on HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and non-communicable diseases, e.g. cancer and diabetes.
