Business Development Unit

Unit Head
Kesmap Guyit

The Business Development Unit (BDU)of the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria was set up in line with the Institute's strategic plan for 2012-2017. As part of IHVN's drive for sustainability, the BDU was set up as a means through which funds can be generated for the Institute to supplement existing grant funding, with the overall goal of ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization. The BDU's vision is to be an international leader in the delivery of high quality goods and services.

The BDU has three core focus areas:

  • Recommending contract/tender opportunities to the relevant IHVN units to assess the organization's ability to execute such jobs,
  • The management of the commercialization of IHVN products and services-laboratory testing, laboratory equipment maintenance, training programs, IHVN inventions (Water Safe, Action Meal),Information Technology services, and so on.
  • Seeking out opportunities to collaborate with other organizations in activities that fall within IHVN's scope of interest, such as collaborating with corporate organizations through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

The BDU works in collaboration with different units of IHVN to conceptualize business ideas, write business proposals, business plans and marketing plans, to assess budgets and to get feedback about executed jobs. The BDU, through its sustainability activities, is committed to contributing to IHVN's overall goal of providing hope for the Nigerian people.
