ABOUT US

About Our Research Programmes

We are providing a world class platform for collaborative research into infectious and non-infectious disease.

IHVN conducts biomedical research focusing on HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and other diseases. Implementation science research to guide policy making and practice has also been one of the areas of research carried out by the Institute.

Staff of the Institute have published several abstracts and papers on researches carried out in the country. Several groundbreaking research activities are being carried out with the hope of gaining knowledge into disease.

In 2015, IHVN established the International Research Center of Excellence (IRCE) to spear-head its research activities.

Objectives of IRCE are;

  • Provide a common world class platform for the implementation of research and clinical trials at international standards as part of global networks
  • Foster collaborations and synergism between Nigerian researchers and their counterparts at international research institutions and universities
  • Provide opportunities for young Nigerian researchers to develop and execute research projects being mentored by more experienced investigators at IHVN, Nigerian Universities, and international research institutions and universities.

IRCE is currently involved in capacity building in areas like research methods, research ethics and regulations, literature reviews data management and analysis, scientific manuscript and grants writing.

The center, which is under the leadership of Professor Alash’le G. Abimiku, a distinguished scientist herself, will create an enabling environment for creative thinking and innovation in science to address Nigeria’s global health priorities. It will provide a common world class platform for the implementation of research and clinical trials at international standards at IHVN as part of global networks; and foster collaborations and synergism between Nigeria’s finest researchers and their counterparts at international research institutions and universities. Importantly this center will provide opportunities for young Nigerian researchers to develop and execute research projects.
