As Deputy Director Learning and Development, Dr. Sunny Phillips coordinates the capacity building components of grants managed by the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN). He manages activities aimed at supporting improved capacity of Human Resources for Health (HRH) at both public and private health institutions in the country.
Dr. Phillips also provides leadership for the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program of the Institute which is focused on progressive improvement and sustained quality of care for HIV and TB clients. He ensures that appropriate performance measurements are employed for constant progress in the quality of programs.
Within the Institute, Dr. Phillips has served in several positions like, Assistant Director, Learning and Development, Regional Manager, South-South/South.
He studied medicine at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Sagamu in Ogun State and earned a Master’s degree in Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Pompeu Fabara Idec in Spain. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University and another in Business Administration from University of Ado-Ekiti.
Dr. Philips is a member of the, Nigeria Medical Association, , Association of Public Health Physicians in Nigeria, West African College of Community Physicians, International AIDS Society and the America Society of Health Economists. His hobbies include singing, playing the trumpet, reading and public speaking. He is married with children.
