Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe is a Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. She is also a consultant neonatologist at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) in Ile-Ife. Professor Adejuyigbe has held significant roles, including Dean of the Medical School at OAU, member of the Management Board of several organizations such as the Equitable Health Access Initiative and StopTB Partnership Nigeria, and member and later Chair of the OAUTHC Ethical and Research Committee.
Currently, she serves as the Vice-President of the African Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases, Co-Chair of the National Child Health Technical Working Committee, and Executive Director of the OAU Central Office of Research. She is the Subspeciality Chair of Neonatology in the Faculty of Paediatrics of the National Postgraduate College of Nigeria. As a government nominee, she has served as a member of two Visiting Panels to two state owed tertiary institutions. Globally, she is involved in multiple committees, including the WHO-convened STAGED KMC Working Group and the planning committee of the IPA-IAP workshop on the Newborn Health and Survival Project.
Professor Adejuyigbe has received numerous grants and serves as the Principal Investigator for several studies, including the Bill and Melinda Gates-sponsored Neonatal Emollient Exploratory Study in three African countries, the WHO multicountry African Neonatal Sepsis Trial (AFRINEST), ACTION Trials, the Management of Growth Faltering with Improved Nutrition in Early Life Trial, Immediate Kangaroo Mother Care (IKMC) Trial, IKMC Neurodevelopmental Follow-Up, and IKMC Implementation Research. She was a member of the DSMB of the Liverpool School of Hygiene study on “Evaluation of a Heterologous, Two-Dose Preventive Ebola Vaccine for Effectiveness and Safety in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC-EB-001),” and DSMB Chairman of the NACOVID Clinical Trial involving the use of Nitazoxanide plus Atazanavir/Ritonavir for COVID-19 treatment. She has been honored with the prestigious Washington DC-based International Women Leadership Forum Fellowship.
