Mrs. Juliet Ajav-Nyior is the Lead of Care & Support Unit under Prevention, Care and Treatment Department of the Institute of Human, Virology, Nigeria. She is adept at designing and implementing evidence-based interventions that enhance client retention in Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) programs and strengthens the continuum of care across facility and community settings.
She also has clinical expertise with grassroots advocacy—designing inclusive programs that address stigma and promote differentiated service delivery models. With her wealth of experience for over two decades, she manages multidisciplinary teams, trains frontline healthcare workers and collaborate with networks of people living with HIV (PLHIV) to co-design solutions that are client led and equip health care service providers to strengthen HIV service delivery systems.
Mrs. Ajav-Nyior is passionate about health equity, client-centred care, and building resilient health systems in underserved communities.
She has a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Bamenda in Cameroon and a Bachelor of Nursing Sciences from the National Open University of Nigeria. She is a registered Nurse and Midwife with certification obtained from the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi, Benue state. Her hands-on experience in HIV care, treatment, and retention strategies is also an invaluable resource in coordinating the care and support programs at the Institute.
