Dr. Helen Omuh provides mentorship and training to clinicians and pharmacists for improved HIV care and treatment in the Institute’s supported facilities. This involves giving assistance on efficient operations of clinics, patient referral network and implementation of integrated quality health services.
As Director Prevention, Care and Treatment Services, Dr. Omuh also carries out regular program reviews and gives guidance on incorporation of best practices into programming. She supervises the development and adaptation of relevant guidelines and job aids in line with national standards and gives technical support in the compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and work plans.
Within the Institute, she has held positions of Associate Director, Prevention Care and Treatment, Senior Program Officer and Regional Manager of the North-Central Region. Dr. Omuh has also worked in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital as Senior Registrar and in Plateau State Specialist Hospital as Medical Officer.
She obtained a Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery Degree from the University of Jos and a Masters in Clinical Research from the University of Maryland Baltimore. She is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate College and has participated in several trainings and scientific meetings within and outside the country.
