Ngozi Ajaero is a seasoned public health professional with more than a decade of progressive experience in HIV prevention including HIV Testing Services (HTS), programming for Persons with High risk for HIV (PHRH)/the general population and system strengthening for community care programs at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN). He currently serves as the Program Manager and Prevention Lead for the ASPIRE project, where he oversees prevention activities across Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Katsina, Nasarawa, and Rivers states. He provides technical leadership for comprehensive HIV services, and drives innovations that improve case finding, linkage, retention, and viral suppression outcomes.
Since joining IHVN in 2013, he has held key roles including State Technical Lead/Senior Program Officer, HIV Testing Services (HTS) Advisor for SHARP TO1, Program Officer for Persons with High risk for HIV /HTS, and Program Officer for Community Case Management Program (CCMP). His work has contributed to the development of national HTS and PHRH guidelines, improved program quality through capacity building and data-driven decision-making and strengthened partnerships with government stakeholders and CBOs.
He holds both a Master of Science degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in International Affairs and Diplomacy, a Bachelor’s in Guidance and Counselling Psychology, and professional certificates in Leadership & Management in Health, Project Management in Health and STD/HIV Research from the University of Washington. He is a member, Nigerian Institute of Management and Fellow, Institute of Human Capital Development. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Security and Strategic Studies at Nasarawa State University with interest in disease security.
Outside work, he enjoys traveling, writing, and football.
