Brief About Rifkatu Aimu Sunday

Biography

Rifkatu Aimu Sunday is a maternal, neonatal and child health specialist. She guides the development and implementation of programs to scale-up Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services in Nigeria as Senior Program Officer, Prevention, Care and Treatment at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN).

She trains and mentors health care providers to provide quality HIV services to pregnant women, nursing mothers and children. Rifkatu also participates in supervising over 300 health facilities supported by the Institute to ensure efficient clinic processes that address barriers to client care, while supervising community volunteers who track defaulting clients. Her duties also include, coordinating cervical cancer screening services in IHVN supported health facilities.

Mrs Sunday is a registered nurse and midwife with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Services from the Maryam Abacha American University in Maradi, Niger Republic. Her over 15 years of experience is in public health and in provision of clinical care to women and children.

She is a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, and has attended several courses in PMTCT and pediatric care. Her hobbies are reading, cooking as well as playing badminton. She is married with three children.
